Once upon a time, I made a bunny named Chickenbutt. I didn’t name him that. My then three-year-old did. Chickenbutt is somewhat famous in some circles. He’s much loved, we’ve celebrated his birthday (you get strange looks when you ask the bakery for a cake that says ‘Happy Birthday Chickenbutt!’) He is B’s best friend.
For years I have refused to re-knit the bunny for others. No, that was a one-off for B. It’s special. Then a friend asked if I would knit a bunny for her 3 year old. A rainbow bunny. For Easter. And they live on the other side of the country. How could I say no?
I found the perfect rainbow colors in KnitPicks Shine, a ridiculously soft cotton blend. I only needed one skein of each color, and even then had enough leftover for another buddy for someone. And by someone I mean the kid I had to pry the rainbow bunny away from. The pattern I used is Nummy Bunny, a free pattern that also happens to be adorable!
The stripes were tedious, but the end result is so worth it. I am NOT making any more bunnies, though! Wait, what? Oh, fine. I’m not making any more after this Denver Broncos bunny…
